It's Raining... It's Pouring...

Hi Ladies,

Ophelia, I know I said it before, but sorry again for your loss.  Actually, ladies, I am  not a huge fan of pets but I loved both of your dogs.  How are things in Paris going, besides that?  Is your assisting gig done now?  What's new?

Flora, how is eternal employment treating you in NYC?

Life as an intern in LA is same as usual.  It is Oscar weekend, and it hasn't stopped raining yet today!  It's kinda nice though, as I always feel guilty sitting at home in LA when it is sunny, which is pretty much always!

Actually, there is an interesting development at work.  The production assistant that I report directly to, has been unusually nice to me.  I shouldn't be complaining, but she has dragged me out for drinks three times in the last two weeks.  Call me old fashioned, but I like keeping my work life separate from my personal life.  I am not a huge fan of them overlapping and in my current state I find my weekends a peaceful escape from hopping around on one leg on set.

Miss you guys like crazy!

P.S. Can you believe we are pretty much into March already?

In Memoriam

Hello girls,
I hope you are both well.  Rose (or should I call you Wayne Gretzky?), how's the leg?  Flora, don't hibernate, make snow angels instead!

Unfortunately I got some devastating news from home yesterday.  My dog passed away yesterday.  I am just devastated at the loss of my darling Felix.  I am so thankful for nine wonderful years with him but coping with the hole in our lives is much harder than I could have ever imagined.  I miss him so much!  I alternate between crying my eyes out and then laughing at one of a million hilarious memories I have of him over the years.  He had a wonderful life and brought joy into the lives of every single person he met. I am so happy to have known my sweet little Felix!

He loved a good walk in the park!

You couldn't keep him out of the water!

He was famous for his goofy faces!

Winter Hibernation

My dearest Rose, get better soon! My goodness between elevator panic attacks and broken legs: what is happening to The Eternal Interns?!

I've also been quite MIA chicas! I've been busy busy at work, but the main reason for my MIAness is simply that I've been trying to go out more after work..

I know sounds a little weird, but winter months can be tough in Manhattan, especially with all of the snow we've had this year! It's cold, snowy and gray and often the thought of trekking out for a drink after work is not quite as tempting as the thought of going home, getting into some flannels (yes...) and watching some good old tv!

This is what I call winter hibernation (a syndrome I clearly have!): staying home, watching the tube and munching! Hibernation is great for the pocket book - I'm actually SAVING money this winter! But, hibernation is a killer for 2 things:
- my social life
- my weight!

Yes girls, I have officially put on 10 pounds since the start of winter... Ok maybe not 10 pounds, but a fair amount of weight! Enough to have a nice kangaroo belly pouch!!

So, yes I have resorted to extreme measures: going out and more going out: Getting out of my apt!! Since last Wednesday I've actually been trying to go out almost every night... be it a cinema, be it a drink, or a night gym session (arghhhh!!)...I'm just trying to stay out as much as possible! If not I'm scared I'll have to purchase a whole new wardrobe come March!

Luckily the days are getting longer and my hibernation cravings a diminishing...Spring is around the corner ;)

Wish me luck!

Flora xoxo

The Intern On The Sofa

Hey ladies,

It looks like we are suffering from traumatic experiences!  Flora, in the elevator and, Ophelia, with your ass hanging out in public, but I am afraid I win with my sob story!

Sorry for being in MIA.  Have I been busy with work? NO!  Have I been busy with love?  NO!  Actually, I have been sitting on my fat ass for the last week!  Why?  Because I broke my f**king leg while ice skating.  I know what you are thinking... who ice skates in LA?   Well I am Canadian, I play Hockey!

Anyway, I have had to take the week off of work and they have had one of the other interns filling in for me.  I just hope he doesn't do a better job than me!  I really need to stop being so competitive.  It unnecessarily stresses me out and I just end up being a b*tch.

Maybe I should just take my injury as a sign to take it easy and relax... I have to kick my feet up anyway... might as well enjoy it!  I just need to pretend that I am not lying down on my sofa in my small apartment in Studio City with a humungous cast around my left leg, but rather on an exotic island just chillin' in a string bikini on my hammock.

Ah well,  I wish you guys were here!

La Stagista Eterna!

Belle Ragazze,
How are you?  Recovered from your elevator scare, Flora?  I am back in Paris after my first business trip to Milan!  What a whirlwind of a trip!  I had visions of being able to (finally!) see the Last Supper, of shopping at 10 Corso Como, of dinners in Milan's chicest restaurants... but no!  Breakfast at 7:30, administrative work and scheduling at 8:30 and appointments starting at 9:30!   My boss definitely made sure to cram as much business as possible into this "business trip"!  argh!  Ginny (the other assistant) and I were so exhausted each night (8:30 on average!) that we would eat in the hotel restaurant before dragging our tired asses upstairs to our shared hotel suite.  Our delightful waiter, Giovanni, loved having us around but we were so disappointed to have missed Milan!  I saw the città from the backseat of a taxi!

That said, the trip was a fashion lover's dream.  I have been to Milan twice before and always found it to be a rather ugly, uninteresting city.  Well, I take it back.  Fashion is what Milan does best so seeing it from a strictly fashion point of view allows the city to come alive!  Rochas, Missoni, Pucci, Etro, Cavalli!  I finally saw what Milan is all about... the capital of Italian fashion!  Bellissima!

On our second to last day, we spent the entire day at Roberto Cavalli.  The sales woman, Daniela, was a complete psychopath!  Within 5 minutes she let us know that this was not going to be a pleasant experience (for Ginny anyway)!  Ginny and I arrived at the impressive showroom at 9:30 and introduced ourselves to Daniela.  Her response?  "Nice to meet you, Ophelia.  What a beautiful name!" and to Ginny:  "That's an ugly name!" haha!  Luckily G has a great sense of humor and she countered with "From now on I'll introduce myself before Ophelia!" ha!  What a joke!  That set the tone for a lot of giggling from our side and a lot of grumbling from the big boss!

After 5 hectic days in Milan, I rushed back to Paris to celebrate my birthday with mon père and le boyfriend.  February is off to a crazy start, girls!

One "Hell" of a Ride

Ophelia! OMG! Well if it makes you feel any better, remember the day some very friendly subway neighbor spilled all their coffee on me on my way to work? Ya...sucks!! Luckily no coffee accidents this morning... Yes, a good start to the day! Or so I thought...

The past few weeks have been ubber stressful. My newfound frenemy (my BBerry!) has been vibrating every two seconds, my boss has been pilling loads and loads of work on me, and on top of it all it's only the beginning of the busy season! So little to say, I have recently been facing what so many other of my Manhatannite colleagues suffer from: Stress.

I've cut back from coffee to herbal tea... started chewing gum (a little obsessively!)... and I'm trying the whole breathe in / breathe out exercises... Little to say, added stress is not what I currently want. So, when I got into the elevator this morning, with a quick "breathe in and breathe out", and started my way up to the 35th floor, I attempted my best at staying stress-free........UNTIL....the elevator....packed solid....STOPPED! Yes it suddenly stopped at the 11.5 the floor....

11.5...not quite a floor...not quite, just a short "stop"... Yes, we were officially stuck! My heart started palpitating...my hands started sweating and I could feel my throat started to get a little dry... Shit.
If there's one thing I hate it's being stuck in small/tight spaces, so you can inly imagine my joy at this claustrophobic's version of hell. I started wiggling around trying to free some space around me and quickly reached out to push the alarm...and I could tell my elevator neighbors thought I was weird - luckily no one from my dept was with me!!

Finally this hell of a ride took off again... Ah!! I finally made it up to the 35th and thank god I wore extra strong deodorant...man I needed it!

I'm taking the 35 flights of stairs down tonight........ I hate NY elevators!!!

NO more Stress!!

Flora xoxo
