Riding out of a great 2nd day!

Chicas,

Como estais? I’m well…2nd day on the job went very well! 2nd day on the job also confirmed how a boot can very well sometimes be the perfect alternative to the ‘red-soled-heel’…A riding boot that is!

I see them all over the office…they are chic, elegant, understated and classic…I’ve raved about them before…but let me rave again! The Riding Boot is MY eternal footwear of choice ;)

From the 1900s to Angelina Jolie and Carla Bruni and the eternal Hermes...riding boots are the timeless choice...

The Age Old Truth

Back to reality Rose? Same goes for me…I started the ab-fab internship this morning!

I must admit that it did take some strength to get out of bed after the preceding ‘internship hyatus’…but I’m incredibly happy to be back to being an official Eternal Intern.

The morning started well, and even though I was one of the only non-red-soled employees, I didn’t stick out all that much like a sore thumb…a sleek pair of black Theory slacks…a simply crisp white shirt…and a low pair of Sergio Rossi ensured my transition into this power-house would be a smooth sail! And it was…minus…well…the encounter with the ‘other’ interns…

Kind, super friendly, insanely nice…but…well…not quite ‘Eternal’ interns…let’s just say that they are in the initial phases of this interning career they are about to embark on…

So when the inevitable ‘what school do you go to?’ or ‘what did you do before this internship’, obviously led to painstaking ‘HOW old are you??’, I cringed and sucked it up…

I do look young - very young many may add (I’ll be thankful at 50!) - but looks can indeed be deceiving…as my fellow interns found out today…Yup, I'm just not quite the 'young' intern anymorre...Is there such a thing as a 'senior' intern?

But what does age have to do with all this? As a wise one once said ‘life is not a sprint’ (perhaps I said that…). I don’t think it’s a jog or a power-walk either…I seriously think that life should be strut step by step in the most brilliant pair of heels, (or Chanel flats…) feeling as good and happy as possible - who cares how old you are!

It’s a theory I now believe 100%…and a theory I will stand by!

With that girls, this Eternal Intern is going to slip her heels off for the evening…sip a mint tea...and perhaps even a Martini!

Kisses to the two of you! I miss you!

A tropical start to 2010...

While Ophelia rang in 2010 with dashing glamour...Flora made a calling for Atlantic style!
Islamorada NYE
Marinieres, a cotton Philip Lim mini, espadrilles (for both cocktails and dancing...) and a trusty silk scarf is how this Eternal Intern styles up for lobster feasts on white sand beaches...

Ring in the New Year in Style!

Ophelia's Outfits

What does one wear to a masquerade on New Year's Eve?  How about Lanvin, Louboutin and a Cartier watch?

x O.

Perfect 10 in 2010!

Following Rose's lead, here are my New Year's resolutions...

1.  Find a fabulous (payed!) job!
2009 was the year of the eternal internship... I need a "perfect 10" job in 2010!

2. Take advantage of the Farmers' markets around Paris.
This year the marché beats out the supermarché à la Hannah Blazer!

3. Read more.
I have a stack of magazines I didn't get to in 2009, but in 2010 I'm going to read much more!  I've read Wuthering Heights three times, but since it is one of my all-time faves, I think it will be at the top of my list!  Any suggestions?

4.  No drinking in January.
That's right, no champagne, no martinis, no apéro!  This is going to be a long month...

5.  Brush up on my Spanish and Italian.
My recent trips to España and Italia have inspired me to truly master the languages!

6. Be more like Barbie...
In other words, live life to the fullest!

7.  Wear high heels.
As Victoria Beckham said: "I beyond hate ballerina flats. I can't walk in them. Unless they're on a ballet dancer doing ballet, I just don't get it!"  I can't live without my repetto flats, but in 2010 I'm going to swap flats for heels at least 3 times per week!  I remember a time when I lived in heels, but flats are just so comfortable...

8.  Channel my inner J-Lo.
This may sound silly, but a friend and I recently stumbled upon (aka actively sought out) old Jennifer Lopez videos and I am newly inspired!  Not only is she beyond confident (seriously, she is mediocre at everything she does!), but she always has flawlessly bronzed skin and make up!  Sephora anyone?  My makeup bag needs a makeover if I'm going to succeed at being J-Lo!  ha!

9. Write more letters.
I am in love with my new Smythson Stationary.  Expect letters soon, ladies!

10.  Be the best young lady I can be!
Perfect 10 in 2010!

Happy 2010 Eternal Interns!  Looking forward to an incredible year!

Bisous,  Ophelia

A New Year's Feast

Rose, I am also totally in relax mode right now…in actual fact I am getting some Japanese delivered! A cozy NY soiree in is exactly what I want…It’s so cold back in NY!

With 2010 among us, the cold weather nibbling at my toes and a new adventure to embark upon on Monday, I am hoping for a quiet evening at home tonight in front of the fireplace…

Visions of my NYE are also flotting in my head…I am missing the warm Floridian sun, sand and sea!

NYE was indeed relatively peaceful - but peacefully amazingly fun! A lobster boil at the Beach House! Yes, you heard me right a fabulous lobster feast right on the beach…

It’s a tradition that goes back decades, and a tradition I have never missed…Each year we mound up a fire pit on the beach, get an abundance of delectable lobsters, invite a few lucky friends from down the beach…and with the torches blazing, the music playing, stories being told and laughing roaring, we celebrate the arrival of a new year!

It was a brilliant soiree…atop a brillant white sand beach, under a sky of abundant stars and on the shore of the magnificence of the Carribean Sea…

Now I am back in the Big Apple cold…in front of another fire pit (or fireplace) and soon to dine on another type of seafood (or sushi)…2009 is now behind us (as is the warmth of Islamorada!) and 2010 is starting with a bang (and an ab-fab internship to start on Monday!).

Oh girls, the bell is ringing, must be dinner! I’ll talk to you later!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

A Peaceful Night

O, sounds like you had a wonderful evening! What a gorgeous mask!  I spent the night with P and two other couples by a fireplace in our pyjamas!  It was such a gorgeous apartment in Toronto's harbourfront.  The view was phenomenal and we were all toasty warm in our flannels by the fire.  We ordered Chinese food, played video games and toasted the night away with a few bottles of bubbly! It was absolutely marvellous to catch up with such an incredible group of friends.  We laughed and I cried...I always get emotional when the clock strikes 12... and this year was no different!  I am looking forward to a new year and more so to a new decade! I already have my resolutions planned... let's see how well I do in keeping them :)

Bonne Année 2010!

Hello lovelies,
Happy New Year!  I spent the réveillon at a fabulous party in the 16th arrondissement.  It was magnifique...It was a masquerade!  I wore the most stunning Venetian mask that matched perfectly with my fab New Year's Eve dress!

The host and hostess, Norbert Normandy and Sandra Jamison, are the most elegant and worldly couple!   I met them at a dinner they hosted for ex-pats in Paris a few years ago and since then I am lucky enough to find myself on the guest lists for all their fabulous soirées! Sandra, a fiery New Yorker and actress and her husband Norbert a multilingual architect are the epitome of class and sophistication!

From the (heated!) terrace we took in breathtaking views of the parisian skyline at midnight, a sight so beautiful it moved even the most cynical party guests.  Sandra and Norbert didn't overlook a single detail for this gorgeous New Years bash!  A jazz combo played american standards leading up to the countdown and a photographer clicked away all night capturing priceless moments.  Waiters circulated serving coupe after coupe of Veuve Cliquot and the canapés were (almost) too beautiful to eat!  As we sipped champagne under the large heat lamps on the exquisitely decorated terrace, it felt more like Marrakesh than the 16th!

What a magical and memorable way to ring in 2010!

Bonne Année, ladies!  Can't wait to hear about your nights!

January 1st, 2010!!!

Just having my morning coffee with the family, but wanted to let you girls know that I was thinking of you!
